Crazy Rich Asians
"Nice complementing soundtracks and great actors, it’s an A+ film."
9/10
It is one of the most hyped film this year and I couldn’t agree more that it was indeed a great film, the plot was well developed and constructed. The feelings were well delivered by all the actors especially the three main characters, Rachel, Nick and Eleanor.
The film follows the story of an Asian American, Rachel Chu who was invited by Nick to attend his best friends’ wedding in Singapore. Barely learnt about his family backgrounds, Rachel was dumbfounded to learn that Nick is one of the most sought bachelor and he comes from one of the wealthiest family in Singapore. Coming to Singapore, although Rachel was welcomed by both Nick’s best friends, Colin and Araminta, she wasn’t welcomed by Nick’s mother, Eleanor.
The plot plays with audience’s emotions along Rachel’s journey to learn the real Singaporean Asian culture and her lover’s family culture.
It was a good ups and downs, most of them were comedic and laughable scene where they involved Peik Lin and her family. However, the most memorable scene was the scene of Araminta walking in the isle accompanied by the soundtrack of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Kina Grannis. Nick mouthed “I love you” and that was enough to bring tears to the whole cinema where everyone went silent. The characters bring along audiences in feeling the hardships to get blessing from Nick’s mother. When the lyrics sings “like a river flows” and water rushing into the isle and that was perfect, complemented by the breathtaking cinematography where everyone is holding a small flower lantern.
I was in love with the film, as I don’t read the book and it was a graceful stream of plot. I believe nothing should be changed to make it better as it was well understood and nothing is hanging to be questioned by audiences. Nice complementing soundtracks and great actors, it’s an A+ film.

"Perfect representation on how little sisters feel about their big brothers most of the time"
BROTHER OF THE
YEAR

A film about a perfect little sister with a big brother who she considered as a big burden, the one she always nag for. Ever since they were younger, they would bicker with each other about almost everything. Chut didn’t like the fact that instead of getting a baby brother, he’s getting a baby sister instead. The hate grows as Jane grown into an almost perfect woman in terms of intelligence and beauty while Chut always fail in his academic. When Jane gets a perfect lover, Moji, a half-Japanese guy who is also Jane’s client, Chut isn’t happy. He tries his best to do everything to ensure that the relationship doesn’t last long.
The film can perfectly be understood as I also have a big brother who also works or study in the same field as mine, we do a lot of designs, sharing ideas between each other. Whatever Jane is feeling, I felt that too. Coincidently, both Jane and Chut were meeting each other for the same project although each do different task where Jane handles an account and Chut handles the creative for the client whose rep is Moji.
It is a perfect representation on how little sisters feel about their big brothers most of the time. The relationship between Jane and Chut seems very harmonized and real as both play with their emotions excellently. Chut with his disgust and Jane with her hatred feelings.
As I’m from an advertising course, watching the movie made me understand the advertising world more as the movie shows a clear representation of how both Account and Creative departments work with each other.
However, what makes me love the movie was because, being a person who barely cries because of movie in a cinema, I almost cried at the scene where Chut didn’t attend the wedding and came home only the next morning to see Jane fly to Japan. It was a heart-wrenching scene where they decided to break ties, I was emotionally affected as I could imagine how sad it would be to break ties with my one and only brother before I go far from home. Until the fast forward scene where Chut finally visit Jane in Japan and talk to his nephew, it was heartbreaking, to finally witness the siblings found each other’s place in their hearts.

"The film succeed in making us audience, to not only be silent but to hold our breathe as well"
9/10
The film is a sci-fi thriller film about a family of five trying to survive from being hunted by sound sensitive predators in a now deserted neighbourhood. The film could be classified as a mute film as there's almost no dialog between actors and there's only sound from the surrounding.

The film has been thrilling from the start as the son almost expose the family to the predators by playing with a robot toy and later died because of the robot toy, however, the family survived all the way till the end. The father committed suicide and the pregnant mother succeeded in giving birth to another child.

As the film is unlike any other film and the watching experience was unlike other's too, it was one of the thrilling film I have ever watched. No dialog and almost no audio most of the time, the audiences in the cinema went silent most of the time to, especially at scenes where we would sigh at how things happened to the family would expose them to the predators.

I could say that the film succeed in making us the audience, to not only be silent be silent but too hold our breathe as well.

No dialogs between actors but they succeeded in delivering the emotions and script excellently. No rest for us audience as every second we look forward to the flow of the plot. So undeniably good and overall is that it is a must watch movie for thriller film lovers.
